| dc.description.abstract | The corrosion resistance of metals used as coating materials in architecture and interior architecture holds critical importance in terms of environmental factors, areas of application, and the type of metal. This study aims to develop a Multi Criteria Decision Making Model based on corrosion resistance to optimize the material selection processes of designers. Within this scope, the corrosion durability of various metal alternatives commonly used in architecture architecture- architecture-such as aluminum, steel, copper, zinc, and titanium titanium- titanium-is evaluated according to environmental factors including temperature, humidity level, pH value, precipitation, and UV radiation. In the research, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is employed to establish an effective decision-making mechanism for the selection of metal as a cladding material. Metal alternatives are examined in detail based on their application areas, and performance analyses is carried out considering environmental factors. Literature reviews indicate that research focusing on the corrosion resistance of metal materials used in architectural and interior architectural claddings remains limited. Moreover, a comprehensive multi-criteria decision making model that integrates corrosion resistance with environmental factors has not been encountered in the literature. In this context, the hierarchy developed in this study is considered to offer a scientifically original approach. The findings are expected to support the selection of appropriate material types in architectural and interior architectural design processes and contribute to the sustainability of the selected materials. According to the findings, titanium demonstrated the highest corrosion resistance performance under all environmental conditions in terms of overall priority values, while stainless steel stood out particularly in the criteria of humidity and water/precipitation. The analysis results indicated that humidity was identified as the criterion with the highest weight among the environmental factors. These findings enable the selection of suitable metal alternatives in accordance with different climatic conditions. | en_US |
