This paper deals with the explanation of term consecratio and attempts in this context to find answers to the following basic questions: How and by whom was consecratio organized? Why did Roman emperors attach a certain value to organization of consecratio? How was consecratio perceived by the Roman society especially subjects in the Roman provinces? Also this study examines close relationship between consecratio and arch of Hadrian in the ancient city Perge, which was decorated with statues of imperial families including Augustus, Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian and donated by Plancia Magna, wife of roman senator G. Iulius Cornutus Tertullus. The present paper finally discusses Plancia Magna s purposes of the erection of Hadrian Arch in Perge.en_US
