In this paper; the way that the history has been recorded in the work of artists who lived and produced during and after the First World War in Weimar Republic in Germany will be examined. The impact of the war on the language of art and how it transformed the artistic scene will be examined through the differences between print series of Max Beckmann and lathe Kollwitz. First two chapters will explore the impact of the war on the European art, roles of artist during that time, and finally the artistic trend of New Objectivism, which occured in Germany. Last two chapters will examine Max Beckmann's Die Holle (The Hell) and Kathe Kollwitz's Der Krieg (The War) print files in a comparative manner in terms of their structural and conceptual aspects. The artists critical approach to the social crises and their response to war in artistic terms will be examined through the works of two artists.en_US
