Avrupa’da Bir Cevelan’ın Seyahat Rotası

Abstract

Ahmet Mithat Efendi’nin 1899 yılında İstanbul’dan yola çıkarak Stockholm’de toplanan Müsteşrikler Kongresi’ne yolculuğuna dair izlenimlerini kaleme aldığı Avrupa’da Bir Cevelan seyahat edebiyatımızın ö nemli eserlerindendir. Eserde, yaklaşık ü ç buçuk ay sürecek seyahatin planlanma aşamasından başlayarak gezilen şehirler ve kullanılan araçlara dair izlenimler ayrıntılı biçimde aktarılır. İstanbul’dan başlayan rota Marsilya, Lyon, Paris, Kopenhag, Stockholm, Berlin, Köln, Cenevre, Montrö , Lozan, Zürih, Münih ve Viyana gibi Avrupa’nın birçok ö nemli şehrinden geçerek yeniden İstanbul’a ulaşır. Okur, Ahmet Mithat Efendi’nin bir belgeselci hassasiyetiyle kaleme aldığı gözlemleri sayesinde bu şehirleri bir Osmanlı aydının gözünden takip ederken aynı zamanda tarihin belli bir dönemine de tanıklık etme imkânı bulur. “Avrupa’da Bir Cevelan’ın Seyahat Rotası” başlıklı bu çalışmada Ahmet Mithat Efendi’nin seyahatinde kullandığı rota ve araçlar mekânsal beşeri bilimlerin imkânları kullanılarak sayısallaştırılacak ve harita ü zerinde işaretlenerek görselleştirilecektir. Çalışmada, Ahmet Mithat Efendi’nin Avrupa’ya dair olumlu ve olumsuz izlenimlerin de Avrupa’da Bir Cevelan’ın Seyahat Rotası haritası ü zerinde görselleştirilmesi planlanmaktadır. “Avrupa’da Bir Cevelan’ın Seyahat Rotası” çalışması, Ahmet Mithat Efendi’nin seyahatini mekânsal beşeri bilimlerin araçlarıyla değerlendirerek yeni bir bakışla incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır.

Ahmet Mithat Efendi’s “Avrupa’da Bir Cevelan” in which he writes about his impressions of his journey from İstanbul to the Orientalist Congress in Stockholm in 1899, is one of the important works of our travel literature. The book provides detailed impressions of the planning process of the journey, which is approximately threeand- a-half- month long, including the cities visited and the modes of transportation used. The route starts from Istanbul and passes through many significant European cities, such as Marseille, Lyon, Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Berlin, Cologne, Geneva, Montreux, Lausanne, Zurich, Munich, and Vienna, before reaches Istanbul again. Thanks to Ahmet Mithat Efendi’s observations written with the sensitivity of a documentarian, the reader has the opportunity to followthese cities throughthe eyes of an Ottoman intellectual, while at the same time witnessing a certain period of history. In this study titled “The Travel Route of a Wandering in Europe”, the routes and vehicles used by Ahmet Mithat Efendi during his journey will be digitised by using the possibilities of spatial humanities and visualised by marking them on a map. . In the study, it is plannedto visualize Ahmet Mithat Efendi’s positive and negative impressions of Europe on the map of The Travel Route of a Wandering in Europe. The study”The Travel Route of a Wandering in Europe” aims to offer a new perspective on Ahmet Mithat Efendi’s journey by evaluating it through the tools of spatial humanities.
