dc.description.abstract | Dear Artlovers, This exhibition is a good exemple of the long exissting friendly ties between Turkey and Japan. Located on opposite sides the Asian Continent, both country enjoy strong bonds of-friendship rooted deeply in their long common history. This friendship is based on shared traditions and cultural values which have suNived through the ages irrespective of the geographic distance separating the two country. Culturally both country represent ancient traditions combined with powerful dynamic innovation, leading to more versatile and inventive human creativity. This common cultural aspect brought together atists and academics of Japan and Turkey and the people of 0eğirmendere and Fujino Town to form The JapanTurkey Sculp-TorsAssociation' wiyh the aim of bringing closer the arstist and people of both country. For several years both side, by organising sculpture semposiums respectively produced beautiful works of art which were exhibited in the open air in both town. But the very unfortunate earthquake of 1 7 august !ast year devastated not only ail sculptures butbut alsa the beatiful Değirmendere as well. The members of The Association and the people of Fujino Town tried their utmost to help their unfortunate friend in 0eğirmendere And this exhibition is one of such efforts. As the Honorary Chairman of the Japan-Turkey Sculptors Association ı take pride and satisfaction in achieving this exhibition for the benefıt of the people of Değirmendere ı alsa would like to express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to ali who contributed to the realisation of this exhibition.
