| dc.description.abstract | Adaptive reuse involves repurposing existing structures that have outlived their original purpose, preserving cultural heritage while addressing contemporary needs. This approach offers numerous benefits, including economic advantages, environmental sustainability and the protection of cultural heritage. Recycled buildings enhance the character and aesthetics of cities, fostering social vibrancy. However, successful adaptive reuse requires a careful assessment of a structure’s potential. Artificial neural networks, with their data mining capabilities and potential for learning from data, can effectively evaluate complex reuse potential scenarios. This study employs artificial neural networks to calculate adaptive reuse potential, regardless of a structure’s original function, promoting sustainable building practices. © 2024, Istanbul Teknik Universitesi, Faculty of Architecture.
