Abstract

Nomination of Osman Hamdi Bey, then the director of the Archeology Museum as the director of 'Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi', Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi began its curricula in the buildings located on the opposite side of the Archeology Museum; 20 students were enrolled and the academic personnel was 8, courses were offered at the departments of Painting (a curriculum of five years), Architecture and Sculpture (curricula of four years), and Engraving (a curriculum of three years); ali students admitted in any of these departments had to pursue a preparatory class for a year, admission was between the ages of 7-25 , only those students possessing a diploma of 'İdadi Mektebi' or those who had been successful in a qualification exam before the jury were admitted to 'Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi'.
