A Reading on Spatial Organization of Traditional Bursa Houses The article is putting and discussing the results of two field works on traditional Bursa houses within an elective course in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (MSFAU). The purpose of this study is to make analyses of traditional Bursa houses selected from urban and rural settlements. Within the course 'spatial Organization and Use of Color in Vernacular Architecture" in MSFAU, two trips were made to Bursa with students in 2013-2014 Academic Year. Four houses from Misi Village and four houses from Orhangazi, a district in city center, were determined to be examined in terms of form, function and use of color in interior spaces. The spatial analyses were made through the plans, sections and elevations of the houses drawn in 1/100 scale. A comparison of houses in Misi Village and Orhangazi district will also take place in conclusion pointing out the differences and similarities of urban and rural houses. Finally, the interpretation of these analyses will give an idea about the spatial organization of vernacular architecture in Bursa. The importance of experiencing the vernacular architecture is discussed under one of the objectives of architectural education as described in Charter of Union of Architects (UIA) "The ability to act with the knowledge of historical and cultural precedents in local and world architecture" (UIA, 2017:7).en_US
