| en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The Gallipoli Peninsula (Thracian Chersonese) of the Province of Çanakkale is a gateway among the Thrace, the Aegean, the Anatolia and even in the Aegean-Black Sea dimension had been inhabited by different cultures from prehistoric times on. The worshipped deities, the cults and the cult areas on the Gallipoli Peninsula were interpreted through archaeological materials of the ancient sources, the epigraphic materials and the coins up to now. The limited researches in the Gallipoli Peninsula have mainly focused on the settlements of the Greek colonies on the shores. Therefore, the information about the gods and the cults are heavily focused on the Greek culture. Whereas the studies on the local cults, the cults of the Thracian gods and their beliefs had been ignored. In this article starting from the earliest documents on the cults of the peninsula and the new arguments in the light of the results of the archaeological surveys will be studied in general. | en_US |
