Dear guests, dear colleagues, and dear students;
This sec:ond joint workshop between the teaching
staff and students of Mimar Sinan University's department
of city and regional planning urban design
masters program and Utrecht school of arts faculty
of visual arts and design has created a perfect environment
tor intertraining, cultural exchange and interchange
of expetience.
Mimar Sinan University (former state academy of
tine arts) differs from other Universities in Turkey
with its tine arts tradition which is older than a century.
The department of city and regional planning,
which was founded about twenty years ago, offers a
special graduate programme in urban design. The
department is interested in urban space tor its design
and regeneration. in this context, the department's
cooperation with Utrecht School of Arts micro milieu
unit provides a very meaningtul connection.
